An unusual turn of events on the Pokhara-Mardi trek, a Swedish youth named Michel has been out of contact for 24 hours since Saturday morning when he descended from Mardi High Camp to Base Camp.
According to Ram Gurung, the Ward Chairman of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality-8, Michel filled out the trekking permit at the tourism office before heading out. However, his whereabouts became unknown after the evening, prompting a swift search led by Gurung himself.
Despite the intense search efforts and cooperation with local authorities, Michel remains missing as of Sunday morning. The ward police office in Bagar has taken charge of the situation and initiated a search operation in the Mardi Base Camp area.
Ram Gurung expressed concern, noting that Michel, a 22/23-year-old traveler, did not register with any local tourist agency. The rural municipality is actively coordinating with the police to locate the missing trekker and ensure his safety.
